Food Forest & Edible Production System Installation in SC & NC

Land that feeds you. Food forest design and installation for Carolina landowners who want their property to produce — not just look good.

A food forest is one of the most productive and resilient land uses available to Carolina landowners. Designed correctly it produces food, supports wildlife, builds soil, and requires less maintenance every year as it matures. Designed wrong it's just an overgrown garden.

Terra Genesis Forestry brings the same conservation-first approach to food forest installation that we bring to every project. We design systems that work with your land — your soil type, your sun exposure, your water, your goals — not against it.

What we design and install:

Canopy Layer — Fruit and nut trees suited to Zone 7b-8a — persimmon, pawpaw, peach, apple, pear, chestnut, and pecan — placed to maximize production and create habitat structure.

Understory Layer — Native and edible shrubs — serviceberry, native plums, elderberry, hazelnut, and blueberry — filling the space between canopy trees and providing wildlife food and pollinator habitat.

Herbaceous Layer — Perennial vegetables, herbs, and edible groundcovers — comfrey, walking onion, native strawberry, and culinary herbs — filling productive niches between shrubs.

Groundcover and Soil Building — Native groundcovers and nitrogen-fixing plants that build soil biology, suppress weeds, and eliminate the need for external fertility inputs over time.

Support Species — Nitrogen fixers, dynamic accumulators, and pollinator attractors woven throughout the system to support long-term productivity without synthetic inputs.

Our process:

Every food forest project starts with a site assessment and soil evaluation. We map sun exposure, water flow, and existing vegetation before designing your system. All installations are preceded by a deposit and a marked aerial showing exactly where every plant goes. We source from regional nurseries using locally adapted genetics wherever possible.

Who this is for:

Homesteaders and off-grid landowners building food independence. Conservation buyers wanting productive native landscapes. Rural landowners transitioning agricultural land to perennial food production. Anyone who wants their land to do more than look good.

Service area:

Lancaster, York, Chester, and surrounding counties SC — plus Charlotte metro NC.
